Accessible information systems are extremely helpful for people with disabilities. Funkwerk AG has developed TSI-PRM-compliant information pillars for this purpose, which are installed at Luxembourg Central Station, for example. These are consistently designed to be barrier-free. The information system offers a haptic button labeled in Braille as a control element for people with impaired vision. When the button is pressed, a TTS (text-to-speech) engine generates an audio file that reads out the currently displayed data. The voice used is coordinated with the customer.
Wheelchair users and passengers of short stature, for whom texts are difficult to read at a greater height, can scroll the information at eye level by pressing the button with the wheelchair symbol.
