SECTRO is an automated system that fundamentally redesigns the security screening process at airports through self-service and digitalization. The aim is to reduce staffing requirements, increase operational efficiency and improve the passenger experience. The SECTRO solution is based on a parallel process flow with centralized functions and self-service stations. Passengers register their baggage using biometric identification. Baggage items are automatically scanned and tracked.
Automated and locked baggage scanning
The baggage items are automatically transported in locked trays, preventing unauthorized access. CT scanners process the trays and analyze the contents of the baggage, which are continuously tracked. If there are any anomalies, they are routed to a separate inspection area. Security staff monitor the scans from a control center. The larger, lockable trays with built-in compartments for personal items minimize losses and optimize scanner throughput. The real-time data enables precise personnel planning, predictive maintenance and improved operational planning.
Automated processes reduce the personnel required for security checks by up to 30 percent and reduce waiting times for passengers. The introduction of digitalized processes such as automated security checks and biometric identification improve passenger flow and reduce waiting times. Innovation through research and development
The innovative SECTRO security screening system is the result of several years of research and development by HÖRMANN Klatt Conveyors GmbH in close cooperation with the Vienna University of Technology and industrial partners. Two prototypes have already been tested and presented to the first airport operators. Interest in this innovative solution is encouraging; HÖRMANN Klatt Conveyors expects an order for a pilot system in a real field test in 2025 and the start of global marketing together with established partners for equipping airports from 2026.
