‘Our sirens remain very much in demand,’ said Matthias Müllner, managing director of HÖRMANN Warnsysteme GmbH. On 10 September 2020, all public warning systems across Germany were tested for the first time since the country’s reunification as part of a nationwide alert day. That led to renewed public interest not only in the matter of alerting the population but also in the use of sirens in general. That was because it demonstrated that despite all the latest means of communication, sirens are indispensable as reliable alert systems. HÖRMANN Warnsysteme is the leader in this particular market and installs and maintains most of the sirens in Germany. ‘We are currently working primarily on upgrading existing sirens. However, the enquiries we are receiving indicate that there will be a few new siren warning systems to come over the next year,’ Müllner.
