HÖRMANN Industries GmbH (corporate bond, German Securities Code Number (WKN): A2TSCH) today published its consolidated interim report for the first nine months of 2020. The HÖRMANN Group’s business development in the period under review was impacted by the coronavirus pandemic, especially in the Automotive and Services segments. Consolidated sales amounted to EUR 366.8 million after EUR 440.9 million in the same period of the previous year. EBITDA declined to EUR 18.3 million in the first nine months of 2020 (previous year: EUR 25.8 million), while operating EBIT amounted to EUR 8.3 million (previous year: EUR 17.4 million). A good third quarter that was almost in line with the previous year and the diversified nature of the Group structure served to cushion the impact of the coronavirus pandemic. As a result, the first three quarters of 2020 closed with consolidated net income of EUR 2.6 million (previous year: EUR 11.6 million).

In its current rating report, Euler Hermes Rating GmbH confirms its assessment of the creditworthiness and future viability of HÖRMANN Industries GmbH (corporate bond, WKN: A2TSCH) with a rating of "BB". A stable development is expected for the next twelve months. In its rating report, Euler Hermes Rating emphasises the sustainable growth potential in the profitable Communications and Engineering divisions as well as the secure medium-term financing basis combined with the group's good financial flexibility.

Coinciding with its 20-year anniversary as a listed company, Funkwerk AG is taking on the operations of the train radio unit of STRABAG Infrastructure & Safety Solutions GmbH in Vienna as part of an asset deal.

As part of the project for installing ETCS equipment, HÖRMANN Kommunikation & Netze has taken on the construction work involved in implementing cable routing systems and power supply equipment on the route from Duisburg to Freiburg. The company has already gained experience with the system through its underground cabling work on Corridor A (Rotterdam to Genoa) at Uhlerborn near the town of Ingelheim am Rhein. This involved a lot of work with road-rail vehicles while the track was closed. As well as installing cable troughing alongside the railway, the company’s specialists excavated troughs crossing from one side of the track to the other, both open and in the form of buried pipes.

This year, HÖRMANN Vehicle Engineering’s branch in Dessau is celebrating its tenth anniversary. The branch, then named Voith Engineering Services GmbH, was established in Dessau, historically a hub for the manufacture of rolling stock, on 1 October 2010. When it was first set up, the team consisted of a total of ten employees. There are currently 16 engineers and technicians working at the site.

In 2019, HÖRMANN Kommunikation & Netze carried out modernisation work on two 110-kilovolt cables in the Frankenthal area on behalf of Pfalzwerke Netz AG. The company’s work to replace pylons and conductors met with glowing feedback. As a result, it was invited in late 2019 to submit a tender for further projects in 2020, to be divided into three lots. HÖRMANN Kommunikation & Netze was given the contract for lot 2, with the range of services involved increasing considerably following initial talks.

HÖRMANN Industries GmbH (corporate bond, German Securities Code Number: A2TSCH) today published its consolidated interim report for the first half of 2020. Sales declined from EUR 299.0 million in the previous year to EUR 234.2 million in the first six months. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) fell to EUR 6.2 million in the reporting period (previous year: EUR 14.4 million) and operating EBIT amounted to EUR  0.4 million (previous year: EUR 8.7 million). The first half of 2020 closed with consolidated net income of EUR -4.5 million (previous year: EUR 4.2 million).

HÖRMANN Rawema GmbH, a HÖRMANN Group company, created a development location almost two years ago with its showroom, a test workshop for Industry 4.0 in Chemnitz. The test workshop allows the challenges and opportunities of Industry 4.0 to be formulated, demonstrated and analysed. At the request of the curator of the MaschinenBoom exhibition, an additional experience has been created as part of these activities: “Depicting and optimising material flow systems is one of the key tasks of factory planning. With our digital factory planning table, we have created a cyber-physical system that allows users to experience the systems intuitively,” says innovation manager Benjamin Bielefeld, Head of Research & Development at HÖRMANN Rawema.

Since 1987, HÖRMANN Logistik has been absolutely dedicated to designing and implementing automated high-bay warehouses, small-parts warehouses and the associated conveyor and handling systems in all kinds of industries. Innovative ideas, ground-breaking technology and the personal touch when it comes to service have been every bit as much a part of the company’s customised designs as its tailor-made HiLIS (Hörmann Intralogistics System) warehouse management system. The Munich-based company has now been recognised for its innovative excellence with a TOP 100 innovation award in the category for companies with 51 to 200 employees in recognition of its ‘top management that encourages innovation’.

HÖRMANN Automotive GmbH and HÖRMANN Vehicle Engineering GmbH have put themselves forward as candidates for the IQ Innovationspreis Mitteldeutschland cluster innovation awards with their novel integral chassis concept. The Innovationspreis rewards innovative and market-ready products, methods and services.

Light commercial vehicles can vary widely owing to the extremely broad range of applications for which they are used, which currently means costly conversion processes requiring a lot of tools. In addition, mass-produced electric light commercial vehicles are often based on conventional platforms designed for internal combustion engines. This wastes precious space because these vehicles are not systematically designed with the use of alternative drive systems in mind.

TEASER: Reliably transporting components from station to station at the right times is extremely important in maximising the efficiency of highly automated production lines. NTN Antriebstechnik GmbH, based in the town of Gardelegen, contracted HÖRMANN Automationsservices GmbH to link up the various workstations on two new production lines for the assembly of cars with internal combustion engines.

HÖRMANN Logistik first became an official distributor of the innovative AutoStore small-parts warehouse system in 2013. Since then, numerous AutoStore systems have been implemented in a wide range of industries. HÖRMANN Logistik is also the first AutoStore partner to have implemented a system with the latest Black Line robot technology. The AutoStore business is receiving assistance with the latest addition to the distribution segment from subsidiary Klatt Fördertechnik GmbH, based in the Austrian town of Neumarkt am Wallersee.

In the 2019 financial year, HÖRMANN Services took on the complete handling of the automation of an assembly line for electric cars, from planning to installation and commissioning of the entire fluid supply installation at an OEM’s assembly facility.
