Zero tailpipe emissions is the big goal in inner-city delivery traffic. To this end, the Swedish start-up Volta Trucks has designed and developed a vehicle concept for what the company claims is the world's first fully electric 16-tonne commercial vehicle at unprecedented speed: the Volta Zero.

The expertise of HÖRMANN Automotive in Gustavsburg played a major role in this. "We supply the complex and heavy components in the chassis of the Volta Zero, such as side members, frame reinforcements and frame add-on parts," explains Marc Maurer, Project Manager at HÖRMANN Automotive Gustavsburg. "The big challenge is to reconcile industrial manufacturability with a very short time to market." 15 weeks after the quotation was submitted, the first pre-series components ready for tooling were sent to the customer.
Series production is scheduled to start in 2023.
