Ceremonial handover to the Institute of Applied Human Movement Sciences
A new institute building was handed over to Chemnitz University of Technology in September. The facilities, which were previously spread across the entire campus, are now united in a central complex with modern equipment and research conditions. A compact, functional and very economical solution was implemented by sharing technical and social areas for the three-field sports hall and the institute building.
HÖRMANN BauPlan supported the planning and implementation of the building services. The sports hall is being built as an energy-plus building with the aim of generating more energy over the course of the year than the building complex consumes. The surplus is fed into the campus's own power grid. This is made possible by the highly efficient building insulation, the installation of a photovoltaic system in combination with a polyvalent air-water heat pump for the parallel generation of cooling and heating energy.
